Frequently asked questions

Do I need to use a spray or gel with NanoClear™?
No. NanoClear™ activates with water. Wet the inside of both lenses before every swim.
Why do I have to wet the lens first?
The wet-lens step creates the thin protective film of water over the inner surface that keeps vision clear.
Can I use my thumb on the lens? Won't it damage the coating?
Yes, and you should. The thumb swipe is the recommended way to clear residue. NanoClear™ sits in a hardened layer, which is designed to cope with it.
How often should I do the thumb swipe?
After many uses, do it at the start of each swim. If you notice fogging at any time, wet, swipe, and rinse.
How long does NanoClear™ last?
It is designed to keep lenses clear up to 10 times longer than traditional coatings. If the anti-fog stops working even after proper activation, the goggles should be replaced.
Why are my lenses fogging?
Usually residue. Oils, lotions, sunscreen and debris can block the nanoparticles. Wet the lens, swipe with your thumb, and rinse.
Is it safe to use hand soap or baby shampoo on the lenses?
You shouldn't need to. Wet, swipe with your thumb, and rinse.
Does it work in open water and in cold water?
NanoClear™ works by managing condensation on the inside of the lens, which happens wherever warm air meets a cooler lens.
Does NanoClear™ provide UV protection?
UV protection depends on the lens tint, not the anti-fog. Mirrored and tinted lenses protect against UV; clear lenses do not.
Can children use NanoClear™ goggles?
The goggles are suitable for ages 12 and over. Children should use them under adult supervision.
What goggles use NanoClear™?
All goggle ranges from Effortless Swimming. See Where to buy.
